Troubleshooting Social Media Poster publishing errors.

Manual

Issues with publishing posts on Social Media Poster fall into two main categories:

       1. Issues related to media content included in the post (i.e. image/video size).

In cases like this there is usually a descriptive error message: “Cannot upload media. Please provide a smaller version of images or select another file.” or something similar prompting you to change the image/video you are trying to upload.

In general, we support uploading images up to 20 MB. For easier editing, Social Media Poster will resize your image in accordance with the requirements of the social network you choose automatically. You will see the alert only if the compressed image is still more than required. Here it is important to know what types of images/videos are supported and adjust your image/video if needed.

Facebook's requirements for video posting:

  • Max video size 100mb
  • Supported formats: mp4 and mov
  • The aspect ratio of the video should be between 9x16 and 16x9

Instagram’s API requirements for image posting:

  • Max 1 photo per post
  • Supported format: JPEG
  • Max size: 8 MB

Instagram’s API requirements for video posting:

  • Max video size 100mb
  • Supported formats: mp4 and mov
  • The aspect ratio of the video should be between 9x16 and 16x9
  • Max Video length: 60sec

LinkedIn: Max 9 images per post (up to 2MB each).

Twitter: Max 4 images (up to 3MB each) or 1 GIF (up to 20MB)

       2. General errors related to connection issues.

If you get a general error message, for example “Couldn’t publish this post due to an unknown error”,  most likely there is a problem with the connection or permissions.
To resolve this issue, please try disconnecting your profile  (remove the integration on your profile’s side too) and then connecting it again. Make sure that you are allowing all of the permissions we ask.
