How do I know if Googlebot sees the changes made by PageImprove?

To make sure that Googlebot can capture the changes made by PageImprove, we suggest using the Google Mobile-Friendly Test tool. With the help of this tool, you can examine the HTML code of any publicly available webpage, and the same engine renders this code as Google Search Console.

How to get the rendered HTML code

  1. Make a simple change on any webpage using PageImprove and publish this change.
  2. After the change is published, open the Google Mobile-Friendly Test tool and paste the URL of the page you’ve just published. How do I know if Googlebot sees the changes made by PageImprove? image 1
  3. Click “View tested page” and open the “HTML” tab on the right side. How do I know if Googlebot sees the changes made by PageImprove? image 2
  4. Look up the element you changed and make sure that the content is updated. How do I know if Googlebot sees the changes made by PageImprove? image 3
You can find more details about mobile-friendly test works in this article.

What if I don’t see the changes in the mobile-friendly test?

There are three main reasons for that:

  1. The JS snippet is not installed on the given page, or it’s installed incorrectly.
  2. It takes too long to load the JS snippet. Googlebot usually waits around 5s for the dynamic content to be rendered, so you need to make sure that the JS snippet is loaded within this timeframe. Find more information about it here.
  3. Sometimes it can take longer for changes to apply because of the caching. Try to wait 10 minutes and relaunch the mobile-friendly test.
